Selecting a grip:

Selecting a golf grip is largely based on feel/preference; however, it is important to understand the differences in grip type, material, and size.

There are two different types of golf grips, putter grips and swing grips. Putter grips are used exclusively on, you guessed it, putters! They are typically larger and heavier to provide stability in the putting stroke to prevent twisting and encourages a smoother putting stroke. Putter grips are the only ones that can have a flat side. This design helps with hand placement and control. All other clubs must have grips that are completely round to follow the rules of golf. Swing grips are lighter and typically tapered to prevent slippage and a freer swing when making drives on the golf ball.

Grips can be made from multiple materials including rubber, synthetic, corded, leather, or hybrid grips. Each grip has its own characteristics these should be selected purely based on your feel preferences.

Grips vary in sizes depending on the control, comfort, consistency, or your hand size. Undersize/Women's, standard, Midsize, Oversize/Jumbo are common size conventions used when identifying which grip you need. Putter grips may also come in other shapes and types (flat, pistol, arm lock, broomstick) depending on hand comfort or your putting stroke.
